Letter – The course ends – March 17, 1915
12th Essex, White City

Dear Mum

The course ends on Friday and I go back to duty. We go to Hampstead Heath tomorrow for moving station work. It is an awful job to pick up stations which are continually shifting about, as hills and trees get in the way.

Dad has the adjutant’s horse as Read has gone away to join his older regiment and go to the front as soon as possible. He is not really fit yet, and his shoulder is still very tender. Won’t his fiancée (Read’s) be pleased. Gran is very fit and trots up to the stores and routs them up to tea with Lucy Ouless and up to the Abbey. I went to the Horticultural Hall yesterday and brought back some lovely roses, ramblers, and scillas, besides daffs, after the show was over like we did at Bedford. The Gulla Pedina is coming over. I saw old Mr. Haigh.

Your loving Hugh

Gran is much better. I send her letters and I go to tea after. Got your April 14 scrapbook letter.
