The font top is really much nicer than it looks. It is dark brown with light brown inlaid figures, all shiny, with a bird on top.

Dear Mum
I enclose a letter from Grenville Bryant, who was missing the other day, a photo of Hugo, who is now fit again. He did have a time of it. He told me all about his share in the two days fight as we looked over Tor Bay, the most beautiful place possible, all about shells and bayonets and what not, while all the time the bees buzzed and the robins came for crumbs. I wrote down what I could remember when I came home and will send it to you

I am mailing to you maps etc. which you left here by separate post. I am keeping your time table as it is a Torquay one. The glass will have to be sent by separate post. Your grandmother sent me a Land and Water magazine. Was it meant for you? I got the Illustrated News. Many thanks. In the map you will find proofs of pictures taken while here. I don’t know what you think of them. They are the dizziest dopiest looking things that I have seen for a long time. Let me know by return the numbers you wish. There is another red envelope to return them in. I am mailing today those souvenirs to the mater. Be good. I do hope you reached home safe and in good time. Oh, say Miss Gregory, or is it MacGregor called and asked me out to tea for Sunday. She says that she is very sorry to have missed you.

Lovely Roof. The Bishop’s throne is on the right. The screens are lovely oak with little figures on them.
Post Card – Exeter Cathedral St. James Chapel
All the altars have been moved out of the chapels except the Lady C. they look most bare and barren. The bishops have been repainted.

Do you just see the rood screen through the chinks in the screens? Haven’t the arches got ragged edges. The organ is just above. It shuts off the arches from the end of the cathedral so you can’t see them.
